The Deal

The Kid and his new spouse were up for some sailing recently. The Kid and I competed in a regatta at our home club. We managed a few decent scores to end up 6th of 19 boats. The Captain and our daughter-in-law spent some time bonding, and then they got to sail with me in the club races later on in the weekend. I came away with a very positive feeling about the two days we spent together. I think my favorite moment was when we were putting the boat away, I reminded the kids that one day they would inherit the boat. In the three years we’ve known her, I don’t think our new family member ever considered that as a part of the marriage “deal.”

Marching up and down the reservoir. Thanks to buddy JP for the photos.
