The Reading List
Many authors have tried to replicate Forester’s work, but the Hornblower series of books and countless associated works is top of the list for adventures on wooden warships.
My brother handed me this book over Christmas. It is a classic story of adventure that many aspiring world travelers have read, especially sailors and aviators, and now it’s my turn.
I read Le Petit Prince way back in time. I think it was French Class at Perry Middle School. This is a novel based on the life of the author of that noted work. This book summed aviators pretty well, and delves into the dreams of writers as well. It was a good read, but I have a bone to pick with the cover design. The airplane on the jacket is clearly a Supermarine Spitfire. I kept expecting to read about Saint-Exupery flying one during WWII, but alas, it isn’t mentioned anywhere in the book.
